Overview: Estate-grown Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Cão and Tinta Roriz are the dominant grapes in Quinta do Tedo's Douro DOC Red Wines. To ensure more fruit and less acidity, the Quinta harvests the grapes for the DOC Red Wines before the grapes harvested for the Ports.
Style: Red wine blend
Aging: Aged 10-12 months, partially in stainless steel, and new and used French oak barrels.
Grapes: Touriga Nacional (35%), Touriga Franca (30%) and Tinta Roriz (35%)
Tasting notes: Full-bodied, balanced and dense; ripened tannins; fruity, intense, complex, savory notes; a very long and persistent finish.
Enjoy with: Pork roast stuffed with prunes and apricots, grilled meats, marinated leg of lamb, chicken curry, pasta with beef or pork ragout, vegetable timbale with roasted tomatoes and grilled almonds. A very “friendly” food wine.
Color: Deep ruby.
Aroma: Black fruit (black currants), vanilla, spice (white pepper).
Winemaking: Hand-picked; fermentation in stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels.

The Quinta’s 100% estate-grown organic grapes come from 37 acres of class "A" vineyards, the highest rating from the Portuguese Instituto do Vinhos do Douro e Porto (comparable to France's Grand Cru). Less than 2% of Douro Valley appellation's rough 100,000 acres are class "A". This rating is subject to soil make-up, vineyard exposure, grape variety, vine spacing and altitude, to list only a couple of the 24 criteria considered(!).
