The Winemaker and His Land: Miguel Louro Jr. grew up farming his family’s vineyard outside of the small city of Estremoz in Portugal’s Alentejo region. To preserve natural freshness, Miguel picks early and intervenes minimally resulting in beautiful, food friendly wines that are quickly gaining recognition in the wine world. I am proud to announce I am the first importer to import these wines to the US!
Tasting Notes: Deep color, bold flavor that is balanced but not over the top! Think deep red berries with a vegetal touch. Fermented with its native yeast in stainless steel.
Wine Region: Alentejo, Portugal's hot, dry south
Varietals: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Trincadeira, Aragones
Pairings: Grilled meat, charcuterie or anything with red sauce.
My visit to Miguel Louro's winery - literally stirring the Apelido Red!
