2019 Arcosso Bastardo Rosé (Trás-os-Montes)
Regular price $23.00
My first ever still Portuguese rosé is finally here! This organically produced wine comes from one of my favorite producers in the Tras-os-Montes region, Amilcar at Quinta de Arcosso. The grapes are dry farmed, organic and the wine is made using gravity flow (no electricity) at the winery. This dry (no sweetness) Bastardo rosé is bright, fresh and juicy at the same time. No oak and all stainless steel fermented. Think strawberries!
In his own words Amilcar Salgado makes wines that are “rustic and sophisticated, like Trás-os-Montes” or “The Place Beyond the Mountains”. This region is just on the tip of the Upper Douro Valley. The soil is granitic and vines are not irrigated. He explains that the climate is the unique intersection of mediterranean and continental which is able to produce wines with the power of the Douro Valley but the finesse of the mountains; a stunning combination!
